Who We Are
Bone SA was established in 1994 and is a registered Public Benefit Organisation by the South African Revenue Services in terms of section 30 of the income Tax Act, in compliance with the National Health Act of 61 of 2003. The company is fully ISO 9000:20015 accredited and is a signatory to the SAMED code of ethical conduct, giving customers and business partners complete assurance of world class standards of service and governance.
What We Do
Our main aim, as described in our Memorandum of Incorporation is to:
- Promote the interests of people disabled by disease or injury through the production and distribution of bone and tissue allograft
- provide competitively products and relevant services to our clients
- Utilise income derived from the sales of tissue products to further the main objectives of the company
- Strive to improve our products, processes, and protocols to optimize the impact of all donated tissue

INNOVATION is our lifeblood. Vitanova, Bone SA’s state-of-the-art tissue bank in the Western Cape, is culmination of 25 years of fostering innovation in the tissue engineering sector. Through academic and research partnerships, collaboration with other tissue banks and procurement organisations and sponsorships for education, training and research, Bone SA has worked tirelessly to ensure that tissue engineering in South Africa progresses.

Our Products
Thousands of South Africans receive life enhancing bone transplants to heal bone fractures, fill in bone defects, create new bone where it has been lost or replace parts of bone that have been damaged in an accident or as a result of disease, etc.
Bone SA is a Non-profit Company (NPC), whose main objective is the promotion of the interests of people who have been disabled by disease or injury. We do this by bringing together donors and recipients in co-operation with the Centre for Tissue Engineering (CTE) at the Tshwane University of Technology.
